In was turned out to be a perfect counter point to last week's One Battle, Him is a masterclass in how to make a short film feel bloated and clumsy. As opposed to the former movie, which used solid and to-the-point film-making to make its 2h45m feel like a breeze, Him chose convolution and overreach in a manner that got in the way of itself.
It's a shame, because otherwise Him had some good bones on it. The story may not have been the most original, but the context was and it could have survived if it decided to tell it in a more simple and straight forward way. Instead we got a mess.
So no, not really a recommendation here, even considering its blessedly short runtime.
