My First Public Performance

At the end of each term, a few London guitar schools get together in and perform for one another. Mine, The Mary Ward Centre is one of those schools and this evening our class, Classical Guitar Level 1, performed in front of an audience for the first time ever (well, it was the first time for most of us anyway).

Our programme was as follows:

  • A rendition of Good Morning Blues.
  • When The Saints Go Marching In.
  • The Beatles' Eight Days A Week.
I cocked up the first one, playing out of key and time, but think that I aced the others. It was nerves that did it, which is surprising seeing as this wasn't really that big a deal compared to the radio thing this morning. Overall we seemed to get a good response from the audience, and even if I say so myself, we were pretty good for a nine week old class.

Alas I wasn't able to stick around to listen to all of the star of the show, Gary Ryan, but what I did hear I loved. If I even get to a tenth as good as he is I'll be happy!
